A New Home, A New Life

On November 1st, 2017, my world made a dramatic turn into a whole new direction. I had already gone back to work a couple weeks earlier, not very happy about it, but a necessity. My first night at work alone, I received a text from a friend who informed me the apartment in her home was available and it was mine if I wanted it. We had been discussing this off and on for over a year now, but the timing and other things never quite lined up. But this time was different.

So within a week or two,  I gave my notice and started packing. This took place while training for a new job that seriously challenged me on a number of levels. It was rather crazy to make this kind of change at this time, but my reality insisted it was now or never, so I said yes to now.

Then I got sick. What started in my head went down to my chest. Racked with coughing I lost my voice. That wasn’t anywhere near as debilitating as the massive energy drain I suffered so that I was affected by this virus for a good five weeks before starting to recover. Didn’t complete the move by mid December as I had hoped. Lost a solid two weeks in doing what I needed to do to move. Spent Christmas Eve moving till 11:00 p.m., but finally, the day after Christmas I was able to turn in my keys!

And I love my new home!

I went from city to country, from noisy street to singing birds, from indirect light to sunlight pouring into my living room, from a view of the duplex right next door to a wide sky greeting me with setting suns, winter trees and birds eating half their weight in bird seed on my deck outside a clear glass door.

And I love my new life!

A fertile ground of creativity beckoning me to write and dream and write! Even when I go to work, it doesn’t feel the same. I don’t resent it taking me away from my writing. I’m so rejuvenated at home that I’m grateful to be at work to make this possible for the moment. The income from my creative projects will come in their own time.

So I’m starting off this new year participating in an online Book Club by Gabriela of diyMFA. This appears to be a promising writers resource website, which may give me the support, guidance and structure I need as I craft my writer’s life. We shall see.

The fact is, now that I’m no longer out of my element, I feel that creative energy ignite inside me and I am filled with anticipation to begin this new dance with the creative muse. Let the music begin!

Welcome to my new home and my new life on this creative journey!
