New Discoveries

The experience of writing and recording the episodes for my first podcast has been an enriching and eye-opening experience.

For one, I discovered a new way of writing that I really, really love. Words that work on the page suddenly become awkward when you try to speak them and new ones that better spring onto the page. Hearing written words out loud instead of in my head, also, helps me to judge their efficacy in expressing what I want to express. This has become my new favorite way of writing and editing.

Who else understands so poignantly the power of gaslighting… than one who has had this forced upon her from childhood…?

This has, also, proved to be a powerful part of my healing journey. I did not anticipate the extent to which this would be  such a blessing to me. When I first thought of creating a podcast, I was thinking how helpful I could be to others. I didn’t realize the person I’d be helping the most, perhaps, would be me.

I’m finding I’m integrating my experience as an incest survivor more into my present experience with covert abuse, and as I become more aware of the connections, I feel stronger and more whole.

I didn’t realize the person I’d be helping the most, perhaps, would be me.

I didn’t realize, until I started creating these episodes how uniquely qualified being a survivor of incest made me to speak of covert abuse. Who else understands so poignantly the power of gaslighting, of denying and recreating reality than one who has had this forced upon her from childhood and who clung to it to survive? And has then spent the rest of her adult life extricating herself from its dynamics?

Speaking one’s truth is powerful. I know this will continue to have a empowering impact on me. I hope it will, in some way, it have a positive impact on you, as well.

Stay true and stay strong.
